COAS Urges Troops To Uphold Patriotism At Christmas Luncheon

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has called on Nigerian Army troops to maintain a spirit of patriotism in the discharge of their duties. This charge was delivered by Major General Philip Eremosele, who represented the COAS at the annual Christmas Luncheon with troops, held on December 24, 2024, at the Headquarters of 9 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Ikeja, Lagos.

In his welcome address, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division, Major General FU Mijinyawa, commended the troops for their relentless efforts, sacrifices, and dedication throughout the year. He explained that the luncheon was organized to appreciate the troops’ contributions while providing an opportunity for them to celebrate the yuletide season in the company of senior officers.

Major General Mijinyawa also encouraged the troops to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and diligence in the coming year. He took a moment to pay tribute to the fallen soldiers who lost their lives in the line of duty and offered prayers for their eternal rest.

The event featured various highlights, including the presentation of gifts to wounded soldiers, the presentation of souvenirs to the Special Guest of Honour, and a group photograph session. The luncheon provided a relaxed atmosphere for camaraderie among troops and senior officers, underscoring the Nigerian Army’s commitment to fostering unity and morale within its ranks.

The COAS’s message of patriotism resonated with the troops as they looked ahead to another year of service to the nation.
