The Chief of Army Staff, Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, has inaugurated a series of noteworthy projects aimed at enhancing the welfare of officers and soldiers in the 81 Division Area of Responsibility.


Among these projects are the newly constructed 81 Division Hippo Hall of Fame, which includes an ultra-modern electronic library located at the Division headquarters complex.

There is, also, a block of 18 single bedroom flats transit accommodation for officers in Abalti Barracks, another block of 15 single bedroom flats officers transit accommodation in Bonny Cantonment, a state-of-the-art hospital in Epe town, and a sports complex and jetty for the Nigerian Army Ordnance School in Epe.

In his speech, Major General Lagbaja expressed his delight at the array of completed projects and thanked Major General PE Eromosele, the Corps Commander Engineers, for delivering exceptional work through direct labor.

The Chief of Army Staff emphasized that these projects align with his command philosophy, which emphasizes leadership, operational effectiveness, and sound administration. He stressed that under his leadership, the Nigerian Army would experience further infrastructural development to enhance the welfare of troops nationwide.

Lagbaja also praised the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division, Major General Obinna Ajunwa, for his positive attitude and commitment to the welfare of troops. He stated that the projects would significantly contribute to providing essential facilities for the troops, their families, and the local community.

During the commissioning ceremony of the Hippo Hall of Fame at the Division Headquarters, Major General Obinna Ajunwa, the GOC 81 Division, congratulated the Chief of Army Staff on his appointment as the 23rd COAS. He expressed optimism that General Lagbaja would excel in his mission to transform the Nigerian Army.

The commissioning ceremony of the Hippo Hall of Fame was attended by notable individuals, including the former Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General OA Ihejirika (Rtd), past GOCs of the 81 Division, key Principal Staff Officers from Army Headquarters, Corps Commanders, as well as officers and personnel of the 81 Division.
