The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, has provided assurance to the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) in Jaji, regarding continuous support and intervention in the college’s infrastructural development.
The commitment was made during a meeting between General Lagbaja and the Commandant AFCSC, Air Vice Marshal Hassan Alhaji, at the Army Headquarters in Abuja on Monday, July 10, 2023.
Congratulating the Commandant on his appointment, the COAS expressed appreciation for the existing partnership between the college and the Nigerian Army (NA).
He assured that the NA, under his leadership, will continue to support the college, particularly in areas such as electricity supply and accommodation, in order to facilitate the realization of the college’s objectives.
General Lagbaja acknowledged the college’s consistent delivery of well-trained officers for the Armed Forces of Nigeria, particularly the NA.
He emphasized that this has had a positive impact on the NA’s operational engagements both domestically and internationally.
In addition to infrastructure support, the Army Chief extended the offer of free services from the Nigerian Army Cyberwarfare Command to enhance the college’s integrated Information Communication Technology (ICT) capabilities during training exercises and student administration.
The Commandant AFCSC, Air Vice Marshal Hassan Alhaji, commended the NA for its significant support to the college in previous years.
He revealed that the college has made substantial improvements to its curriculum, aligning it with the specific needs of the services.
The college aims to leverage ICT to enhance student administration, registration, training directives, and accommodations, thereby increasing productivity.
