Change Of Baton At Murtala Mohammed Airport Command As Comptroller Yusuf Hands Over To Comptroller Awe

In a significant leadership transition at the Murtala Mohammed Airport Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, Comptroller Mohammed Sani Yusuf officially handed over the reins to Comptroller Michael Toyin Awe earlier today. The ceremony marked the end of Yusuf’s tenure, which lasted for over a year, and welcomed new strategies and leadership under Comptroller Awe.

During his farewell address, Comptroller Yusuf reflected on his tenure, noting significant achievements and challenges. He proudly highlighted the revenue accomplishments under his leadership, revealing that the Command nearly met an ambitious daily revenue target of four hundred million naira (₦400,000,000.00) after an increase from two hundred and twenty-five million naira (₦225,000,000.00). Under his stewardship, the Command generated over Ninety Billion Naira last year, marking a substantial increase from the previous year’s Sixty Eight Billion Naira.

Comptroller Yusuf credited much of this success to his open door policy, which facilitated enhanced stakeholder engagement and improved revenue collection. He urged the Command’s officers to continue their dedicated service and to support Comptroller Awe fully as he takes on his new role.

The incoming CAC, Comptroller Awe, addressed the gathering, emphasizing his commitment to building on the strong foundation laid by his predecessor. While acknowledging the challenges ahead, he expressed his readiness to lead, stressing the importance of teamwork and continued cooperation among all members of the Command.

Comptroller Awe’s previous experience within the Command is expected to smooth the transition and foster continuity in management and operations. The customs community and stakeholders are hopeful that this leadership change will bring about further improvements in efficiency and revenue generation at one of Nigeria’s busiest airport customs commands.

The ceremony was attended by senior officials from the Nigeria Customs Service and representatives from various stakeholders, highlighting the collaborative effort required to manage and secure one of the nation’s critical economic gateways.
