On Thursday, September 26, 2024, the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, reaffirmed the Nigeria Customs Service’s commitment to advancing education by investing additional resources into the Service’s schools nationwide. Adeniyi made this announcement while serving as Chairman of the occasion during the launch of the book “Business Geek: Innovative Incubator From Concept to Reality”, authored by Asma’u Isah Maibasirah, wife of a high-ranking Customs officer, at the NAF Conference Centre, Abuja.

In his remarks, CGC Adeniyi emphasized the importance of education for national development, pledging to continue building and renovating primary and secondary schools across various states. “Providing quality education is a top priority for the Nigeria Customs Service,” Adeniyi stated, adding that the Service would deploy more resources to ensure that every child, regardless of background, has access to quality education.

Highlighting the significance of the book “Business Geek”, Adeniyi noted its relevance in addressing the country’s unemployment challenges by promoting entrepreneurship and innovation. He urged attendees to take the book seriously, particularly given the high unemployment rate among Nigeria’s youth. “This is a timely intervention, and I believe we must all grab this book,” he said.

The book, which provides practical guidance on transforming innovative concepts into viable enterprises, aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s agenda of empowering small-scale businesses to revitalize the economy. CGC Adeniyi pledged the Nigeria Customs Service’s support in collaborating with the author to ensure the book reaches a wider audience, promising to assist with additional printed copies when needed.

The event also featured a review of the book by Professor Muhammad Aliyu Paiko, Vice-Chancellor of Abdulkadir Kure University, Minna, Niger State. Paiko praised the book as insightful and a valuable resource for both intellectuals and students, commending the author for her thorough research and engaging presentation.

Dr. Asma’u Isah Maibasirah, the author, expressed her gratitude to Mrs. Kikelomo Adewale Adeniyi, who represented Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, at the event. She acknowledged the First Lady’s support in ensuring the success of the book launch and extended thanks to CGC Adeniyi and his team for their immense backing.

The event also saw the participation of Senator Abdulaziz Yari, former Governor of Zamfara State, who served as the Chief Launcher, along with other distinguished guests. Attendees discussed strategies for enhancing entrepreneurial skills and leveraging innovative solutions for national development.

The launch of “Business Geek” served as a platform for encouraging creativity and business acumen, particularly among Nigeria’s youth, and underscored the importance of promoting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as a pathway to economic prosperity.
