CGC Adeniyi Hosts NAGAFF Leadership, Pledges To Strengthen Collaboration For Trade, Security


On Tuesday, October 29, 2024, Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC) Adewale Adeniyi welcomed a delegation from the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) at the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Headquarters in Abuja. The NAGAFF team, led by National President High Chief Tochukwu Ezisi, engaged in discussions aimed at enhancing collaborative opportunities between the Customs Service and freight forwarders.

During the meeting, CGC Adeniyi expressed his enthusiasm for reinforcing the partnership with NAGAFF and emphasized the importance of ongoing engagement. “These are all possibilities, and we will be willing to work with you,” he stated, recognizing NAGAFF’s commitment to mutual interests and identifying new avenues for cooperation.

The Customs Chief also briefed the delegation on the NCS’s recent transformative initiatives focused on trade facilitation, border security, and technology integration. Highlighting current projects aimed at boosting operational efficiency, CGC Adeniyi underscored the Customs Service’s commitment to streamlining processes for the benefit of all stakeholders.

In anticipation of NAGAFF’s upcoming Silver Jubilee Anniversary, CGC Adeniyi confirmed his plans to attend, acknowledging the association’s significant role as a key partner in customs operations and policy implementation.

In response, Chief Ezisi commended CGC Adeniyi and his team for their notable contributions to Nigeria’s economic growth and security, noting, “Your remarkable achievements since assuming office cannot be overstated.” He also formally invited the CGC to NAGAFF’s 25th-anniversary celebration and confirmed NAGAFF’s participation in the upcoming CGC Conference, where they will unveil their newly acquired N500 million Secretariat.

The NAGAFF delegation included prominent figures such as Chief Afam Chukwuma, Deputy National President (Seaport) and Chairman of the Silver Jubilee Organising Committee; Igwe Kingsley, National Secretary; Princess Chi Eze, National Vice President (Western Port); and Melody Obehi, National Treasurer, among others.

This meeting highlights the ongoing commitment of both the Nigeria Customs Service and NAGAFF to collaborative progress, with both parties working toward shared goals that strengthen Nigeria’s trade and border security landscape.
