CGC Adeniyi, Hon. Abejide Urge Customs Officers To Uphold Professionalism At Graduation Ceremony

The Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College (NCCSC), Gwagwalada, celebrated the graduation of 100 officers from its Senior Course 11 and Junior Course 20 on December 16, 2024. The event, graced by the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, and Hon. Leke Abejide, Chairman of the House Committee on Customs and Excise, underscored the significance of professionalism in customs operations.

In his address, CGC Adeniyi praised the graduates for their dedication throughout the six-month training. He urged them to apply their newly acquired skills to strengthen border security, combat smuggling, and enhance revenue generation. Adeniyi highlighted the core values of professionalism and discipline, which he described as essential for effective service delivery and national development.

Hon. Abejide, the Special Guest of Honour, congratulated the officers on their achievement and stressed the importance of continuous learning and adherence to the Customs Act 2023. He described the training as the foundation for the professionalism needed to execute their duties effectively.

The Commandant of the College, Acting Assistant Comptroller-General (Ag. ACG) Oluyomi Adebakin, conferred the titles of Pass Senior Course (PSC) and Pass Junior Staff Course (PJSC) on the graduates. She commended their resilience and called on them to uphold the highest standards of leadership and discipline as they return to their postings.

One of the graduates, Chief Superintendent of Customs Abdullahi Ibrahim, lauded the Service for its commitment to capacity building. He highlighted the lessons learned, including discipline, procedural harmonization, and the ability to work under pressure. Ibrahim expressed gratitude to the college’s leadership and staff for their invaluable contributions.

A regimental dinner held on December 12, 2024, preceded the ceremony. During the dinner, CGC Adeniyi emphasized camaraderie, teamwork, and discipline as vital values for the officers to uphold in their service to the nation.

The graduation ceremony reaffirmed the Nigeria Customs Service’s dedication to equipping officers with the skills and knowledge necessary to meet the evolving challenges of border security and revenue collection.
