The Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, attended the graduation ceremony of Senior Course 10 at the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College (NCCSC), urging the graduating officers to uphold the values of the Service and embrace continuous learning. Speaking at the event, CGC Adeniyi lauded the officers for their dedication during the rigorous six-month training and encouraged them to be exemplary ambassadors of the Service.
“It is a great honor and privilege to be back in this prestigious institution and to be part of this graduation ceremony of Senior Course 10 today. It is without a doubt that you have spent six months having rigorous training that will equip you to add value to the Service. I congratulate you for your commitment, which has led us to today’s occasion,” Adeniyi remarked.
He emphasized the importance of applying the knowledge gained to enhance border security, suppress smuggling, and increase revenue generation. Additionally, CGC Adeniyi reaffirmed his commitment to improving the welfare of officers and the staff at the college, stating that this would boost efficiency within the Service.
Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs, Kingsley Egwuh, Commandant of the College, conferred the graduates with the title of Pass Senior Course (PSC). He congratulated them and urged them to implement their training in their respective Commands.
“With the permission of the Special Guest of Honour, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, I stand here before you with joy to confer you all with this title, and I want to implore you to practice what you have learned as you go back to your respective Commands,” ACG Egwuh stated.
Deputy Commandant and Director of Studies, Comptroller Oluyomi Adebakin, highlighted the comprehensive training provided, designed to enhance officers’ skills and uphold high moral standards. She expressed confidence in the graduates’ abilities to be effective ambassadors of both the College and the Service.
“I have no doubts in my mind that considering the quality of training you have received, you all will be good ambassadors of the College and the Service at large – and I wish to implore you to exhibit your competence to your subordinates when you go back to your places of work,” Comptroller Adebakin said.
The college management also hosted a regimental dinner on June 5, 2024, to honor the graduates. Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs, Beatrice Nwafor, representing CGC Adeniyi, encouraged the graduates to leverage their training to enhance their performance, likening them to eagles poised to soar higher.
“You are now as strong as eagles. You are, therefore, expected to keep soaring higher,” DCG Nwafor urged.
The graduation ceremony underscored the Nigeria Customs Service’s dedication to continuous professional development and the welfare of its personnel, aiming to foster a more efficient and effective Service.
