The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has reaffirmed the military’s commitment to social inclusion with a N2 million donation to the Potter Gallery Initiative, a disability-led organization championing the empowerment of persons with disabilities in Nigeria.
Represented by Rear Admiral OA Bankole, Chief of Defence Civil Military Relations, General Musa presented the cheque at a brief ceremony held near the ECOWAS Parliament in Area 10, Abuja.
The donation is aimed at supporting the organization’s goal of renting a gallery space in Jahi, Abuja, which will serve as a creative and empowerment hub for persons with disabilities. In his remarks, the CDS emphasized the need for inclusive development and expressed confidence in the Initiative’s ability to drive meaningful impact.
“We believe in the potential of persons with disabilities and are committed to supporting initiatives that promote their welfare,” he stated.
Leaders and members of the Potter Gallery Initiative were visibly moved by the gesture. Three representatives spoke on behalf of the organization, expressing deep gratitude to the CDS for the timely support and pledging to use the funds responsibly and transparently.
The Potter Gallery Initiative is recognized for its innovative approach to disability inclusion, focusing on empowerment through creativity, accessibility, and advocacy.
This donation marks a significant milestone in the Nigerian military’s efforts to promote community engagement and social responsibility, while reinforcing the message that persons with disabilities deserve equal opportunities to thrive.
