The Association of Tourism Practitioners of Nigeria (ATPN) has officially endorsed the upcoming Things Fall Apart Festival 2025, organized by the Centre for Memories in Enugu. This endorsement elevates the festival to the status of a nationally recognized tourism event, underscoring its cultural significance and contribution to literary heritage.
The endorsement was formally delivered during a courtesy visit by a delegation led by Mr. Wilson Uche Ugwu, Deputy President of ATPN, on behalf of the National President, Prince Adetunji Oluwafemi Fadina. The team was warmly received by the Executive Director of the Centre for Memories, Mr. Iheanyi Igboko, who described the endorsement as a pivotal development in the growing collaboration between Nigeria’s tourism and cultural preservation sectors.
The ATPN delegation commended the Centre’s dedication to preserving memory, identity, and heritage. They also praised its impact in promoting sustainable tourism not just in the South East but across the nation.
During the visit, Mr. Ugwu presented an official endorsement letter from ATPN, highlighting the alignment between the festival’s objectives and ATPN’s mission to preserve and promote Nigeria’s cultural and historical assets. In a further show of support, ATPN formally admitted the Centre for Memories into its membership and donated souvenir bags to bolster preparations for the festival.
Prince Fadina, in his message, pledged ATPN’s full collaboration towards the success of the festival, describing the Centre as a strategic partner in achieving national tourism goals through cultural programming.
The Things Fall Apart Festival 2025—named after Chinua Achebe’s iconic novel—is scheduled to take place from June 29 to July 5, 2025. The event promises a week-long celebration of literature, heritage, and identity, drawing audiences from across Nigeria and beyond.
With this new recognition, the festival is set to have a broader national impact, positioning Enugu as a vibrant cultural tourism hub and reaffirming the importance of heritage-driven events in Nigeria’s tourism development.
