The Nigeria Customs Service, Area II Command, Onne Port, Rivers State, proudly announces an unprecedented achievement in the realm of revenue generation, breaking historical records and garnering commendation from the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC).
In a single day, the command witnessed an extraordinary revenue collection of ₦22,184,899,508.00, a significant leap from the previous daily average. Under the leadership of Customs Area Controller Comptroller Baba Imam, the command achieved four remarkable feats. February 2024 stands out as the highest revenue month in the history of Area 2 Command, exceeding the monthly revenue target. The daily collection on March 7th reached an all-time high, and the total revenue for the first 49 working days in 2024 surpassed the six-month revenue collected from January to June 2023.
Comptroller Baba Imam attributes this success to constant stakeholder engagement, a firm stance against revenue leakages, and strategic collaboration with compliant traders. The command exceeded its daily target by over 1000%, marking a historic achievement in daily collections.
The revenue performance in February 2024 reflects a 23.3% increase above the monthly revenue target of ₦41,235,013,930.84. Compared to February 2023, there is an impressive 183% surge in revenue, showcasing the command’s remarkable progress.
Area Controller Baba Imam emphasized that the success was a result of consistent stakeholder engagement, zero tolerance for revenue leakages, and adherence to importation and exportation laws. The command is optimistic about sustaining this trend to surpass not only monthly targets but also the ambitious ₦494,820,167,170.07 revenue target set for the year 2024.
In recognition of their outstanding performance, the Area 2 Command received a Commendation Letter from the Comptroller General of Customs. This commendation extends beyond revenue achievements to acknowledge the command’s commitment to a work-life balance through weekly sporting activities.
Chief Superintendent of Customs, Lomba Benjamin, the Public Relations Officer for Area 2 Command, highlighted the significance of incorporating sports activities into the work routine for the well-being of officers. He urged other commands to follow suit, emphasizing the positive impact on the physical and mental fitness of individuals working in these areas.
