APMT Receives Certificate Of Registration During Visit To Shippers’ Council

A delegation from AP Moller Terminals, led by Vice President Mr. Martijn Van Dongen, paid a courtesy visit to the Nigerian Shippers’ Council at its headquarters in Lagos.

The purpose of the visit was to enhance collaboration between AP Moller Terminals and the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, which serves as the regulator for port economics.

During the visit, AP Moller Terminals received its certificate to operate as a regulated service provider. Chinenye Deinde, the Legal Adviser and Head of Corporate Affairs of AP Moller Terminals, also urged the Nigerian Shippers’ Council to advocate for the National Transport Commission (NTC) Bill, emphasizing its potential to improve the maritime sector’s integrity.

In response, Rt. Honourable Emmanuel Jime, the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, revealed that the council is currently working on reviewing its enabling Act. He believes that this revision will strengthen the agency’s role as a regulator for port economics.

He further emphasized the Nigerian government’s commitment to transforming the country into an attractive investment destination for foreign investors and encouraging local entrepreneurs to foster economic growth through creativity.

Highlighting the strategic location of Nigeria on the African continent, Jime concluded that it serves as a catalyst for investments.
