The Africa Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria (APFFLON) extends its congratulations to Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, the newly appointed Comptroller General of Customs, succeeding Col. Hammed Ali, Rtd.

Adeniyi brings over 30 years of customs administration experience, encompassing strategic and operational responsibilities.

Having fostered strong relationships with stakeholders during his tenure as the organization’s spokesperson, the Acting CG is well-versed in various roles within the Nigeria Customs.

In a statement released by APFFLON’s National President, Otunba Frank Ogunojemite, the association describes the new Comptroller General as a highly skilled officer and seasoned strategist, expressing confidence in his ability to reposition the organization for optimal performance.

Ogunojemite urges the Acting CG to promptly review unfriendly policies that have negatively impacted trading activities.

He emphasizes that certain policies implemented by his predecessor, Col. Hameed Ali, Rtd., not only hindered trading but also created a negative perception of Customs among freight forwarders and traders, who began to view them as obstacles to economic activities.

Otunba Ogunojemite believes that the new CG will alter this perception and lead the organization to greater success.

Furthermore, APFFLON extends its felicitations to DIG Kayode Egbetokun, who has been appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the Acting Inspector General of Police, replacing Mr. Usman Baba. The appointment is pending confirmation by the National Assembly in accordance with the Nigerian Constitution.

Additionally, APFFLON congratulates Hadiza Bala-Usman, former Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, on her recent appointment as Special Advisor (SA) on Policy and Coordination by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. In their congratulatory message, APFFLON’s National President describes Hadiza as a capable individual who spearheaded positive reforms at the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), resulting in increased government revenue.

According to Ogunojemite, “it is a common knowledge that during her time at NPA, Hadiza Bala Usman ensured full implementation of all the Federal Government policies, including the Treasury Single Account (TSA), she is a reformer and seasoned administrator, APFFLON is wishing the trio well as they carry out their statutory responsibilities.”
