The Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) on Tuesday awarded five of its newly promoted Comptrollers for their distinguished performance, as ACG Charles Orbih, the Zonal Coordinator for ‘Zone A,’ urged all newly promoted officers to uphold professionalism in their new roles.
The five officers, who were recently elevated from Deputy Comptrollers to Comptrollers, received plaques in recognition of their excellent service. The award recipients include Comptroller Frank Onyeka, Area Controller of Tincan Island Port Command, who was commended for his outstanding service as Deputy Comptroller in charge of Apapa Gate. Other awardees include Comptroller FM Muhammed, Comptroller Salamatu Atuluku, Comptroller Aisha Abdul, and Comptroller CV Eyapade.
During the decoration ceremony held at the Apapa Command auditorium, ACG Orbih emphasized that the promotion signifies not only the officers’ past achievements but also the higher expectations for their future roles. He urged the newly promoted officers to embrace the increased responsibility and to continue to exhibit integrity and leadership. “As the premier port of NCS in Zone A, you must maintain an unprecedented standard in revenue collection, trade facilitation, anti-smuggling operations, and national security,” he stressed.
Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, the Customs Area Controller for Apapa Port, also congratulated the officers on their promotion, highlighting their hard work, resilience, and dedication to the service. He commended the officers for their efforts, which helped the Apapa Command generate N2.3 trillion in revenue for the federal government in 2024. Olomu added that the promotion should serve as a call to elevate their performance even further.
The promotion exercise saw 14 Deputy Comptrollers elevated to the rank of Comptroller of Customs, 17 Assistant Comptrollers promoted to Deputy Comptrollers, and 50 Chief Superintendents of Customs elevated to Assistant Comptroller.
