The Government of Anambra State has established a panel of inquiry to investigate the ongoing controversy surrounding the top scorer in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
During a media chat, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, the Education Commissioner, expressed regret over the embarrassing situation. This incident is particularly unfortunate as the Soludo-led administration is currently focused on improving the education system in the state.
In the meantime, the Anambra State Government continues to honor Nkechinyere Umeh, who was officially recognized by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) as the highest scorer with a cumulative mark of 360.
At the same time, security agencies are investigating allegations of result falsification made against Ejikeme Mmesoma, who was previously highlighted on social media as the top scorer.
