The Anambra State Police Command successfully foiled a kidnapping attempt in Aguata, rescuing the victim and recovering his vehicle. This accomplishment is attributed to the technology-driven and strategically repositioned anti-crime measures under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam.
On May 22, 2024, at approximately 4:30 pm, police officers received a report of an abduction along Umuchiana village in Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area (LGA). Responding swiftly, the officers pursued the criminals, who eventually pushed the victim out of the vehicle at Ndike village in Orumba North LGA and continued their escape.
The determined officers continued their pursuit, forcing the kidnappers to abandon the victim’s sky blue Toyota Camry along Umunze road in Orumba South LGA. The assailants fled into a nearby bush, and operations are ongoing to apprehend them.
The rescued victim has been debriefed and reunited with his family.
Commissioner Itam commended the officers for their bravery and assured the people of Anambra (Ndi Anambra) that the police, in collaboration with other security agencies, will use all legal means to prevent criminals from causing trouble and regrouping in the state.
