The Anambra State Police Command has swiftly responded to a viral video showing a police officer assaulting a citizen. The officers involved have been identified, and Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has ordered immediate disciplinary proceedings against them.

In a statement issued today, the Command urged the victim to come forward to aid in the disciplinary process. CP Itam emphasized that the Command will not tolerate any form of unprofessional conduct among its personnel. He stressed the importance of officers remaining composed and professional, even when provoked by the public.

“Officers must maintain a calm and courageous demeanor when interacting with the civil populace,” CP Itam stated. He also reminded citizens to respect civil authority and adhere to the law.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed that further details regarding the proceedings will be communicated in due course. The Command reassures the public of its commitment to upholding professional standards and accountability within the force.
