The Honourable Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt HON.
Uche Okafor, has donated two Sienna buses to the Anambra State Police Command as part of his social responsibility to support the Police in its fight against crime in the State. This was contained in a press statement by the Spokesperson of the command CSP Haruna Mohammed to Hybrid Online News Nigeria.
According to Mohammed, the Speaker was accompanied by three traditional rulers, namely, HRM Igwe Dr. Benjamin Okeji of Omasi; HRH Igwe Barr. Simeon I. Chidubem of Umumbo and HRH Igwe Dr. Chris Chidume Oranu of Omor, all from Ayamelum LGA of Anambra State.
Responding during a brief hand over ceremony at the State Command Headquarters, Awka, the Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Bala Kuryas,fsi, thanked the Honourable Speaker for donating the buses to the Command and also extended the appreciation of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu,NPM,mni.
The CP further assured the donor that the vehicles would be judiciously utilised for the purpose they were meant for and urged other well meaning individuals to emulate the gesture in order to enhance safety and security in the state.
In another development, the CP also received in audience, the Chairman Anambra Vigilante Group (AVG), CP Ikechukwu Aduba, RTD.
He was accompanied by Chief Ogilisi Igbo and other top officials of the group.
The purpose of the visit was for familiarization and to enhance existing synergy between the two agencies in order to promote safety and security in the state.
