In the early hours of June 19, 2023, around 3:00am, a group of gunmen launched an attack on the security forces in Anambra but the security forces fiercely resisted the assailants.

During the exchange of gunfire, two of the gunmen were fatally shot, and two AK-47 rifles were seized by the security forces.

A number of the remaining gunmen managed to escape and are currently on the run, but they sustained various injuries and bullet wounds. Fortunately, the members of the Anambra Security forces emerged unharmed from the confrontation.

Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s administration continues to prioritize the establishment of a safe and secure environment in Anambra State. Consequently, the security forces are unwavering in their commitment to safeguard the lives and property of the people of Anambra, as well as travelers and all residents alike.
