The Joint Security Force in Anambra State has escalated efforts in the pursuit of insurgents responsible for recent attacks on two Police Stations in the State.
The search for the assailants has been expanded to include Obofia Forest, Aguluezuchukwu, and Ogboji areas.
On April 2, 2024, the Police-led Forward Operating Base, known for its high mobility, launched a decisive strike on the insurgents’ camps in the aforementioned areas.
Engaging the insurgents in a fierce firefight, the security forces successfully routed them from their strongholds, which were subsequently dismantled.
During the operation, a significant cache of high-caliber ammunition, cartridges, a locally fabricated rocket launcher, Police uniforms, and an unregistered Ford Pick-Up Truck were seized.
Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, who authorized the operation, has pledged to maintain relentless pressure on the insurgents until they are entirely eradicated from Anambra State.
He has urged troops and personnel involved in the operation to sustain their momentum until the State is fully secure from the cowardly guerrilla attacks orchestrated by the insurgents.
