Anambra Residents Unite With Police To Tackle Criminal Elements

Residents of Anambra State have reiterated their support for the Nigeria Police and other security agencies in a collective resolve to combat criminal activities and restore lasting peace across the state.

This affirmation followed growing consensus that the individuals previously referred to as “unknown gunmen” are, in fact, known and unrepentant criminals who have consistently rejected opportunities for rehabilitation and peace.

According to a statement issued on Monday, June 9, 2025, by the Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the residents have shown increased commitment to collaborating with security operatives to identify and root out criminal elements from their communities.

“The people of Anambra have agreed with the Police and security agencies that there is nothing like unknown gunmen. These individuals terrorising the state are unrepentant criminals who have refused to change their ways,” SP Ikenga said.

He added that enhanced surveillance and intensified patrols have been deployed across strategic areas of the state to deter criminal activities and ensure public safety.

To strengthen the partnership between the Police and the public, residents were urged to report any suspicious activities or request security support through the Command’s Control Room on 07039194332 or contact the PPRO directly on 08039334002. The public is also encouraged to download the NPF Rescue Me App, available for free on both Android and iOS platforms, to access emergency services quickly.

The Police Command assured residents of its continued efforts to protect lives and property while commending Ndi Anambra for their cooperation and resilience.
