Anambra Police Thwart Armed Robbery Plot In Ihiala, Eliminate Gunman

In a proactive move ahead of the festive season, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police deployed a Special Crack Squad to Ihiala, successfully disrupting an armed robbery attempt and neutralizing one of the criminals.

Operating in collaboration with local vigilantes, the Crack Squad effectively restored peace in the historic city, enabling Ihiala residents, including those returning for the festive season, to enjoy the holidays without fear.

The confrontation unfolded on the night of January 12, 2024, when armed assailants targeted a middle-aged man for his vehicle at Ubiahuikwem, Ihiala. The Squad, upon arrival, faced gunfire from the assailants who operated on two motorcycles. Swift and professional engagement by the police ensured the safety of the intended victim, who managed to escape the scene unharmed.

The operation resulted in the recovery of one Automatic Pump Action Gun and two motorcycles from the thwarted criminals.

Expressing satisfaction with the Squad’s commendable efforts, the Commissioner of Police praised their work and urged them to persist in eradicating criminal elements from Ihiala and neighboring communities, including Isseke, Lilu, Orsumoghu, and Azia.

The Commissioner assured ongoing logistical support to the Squad, emphasizing the commitment to providing the necessary resources for the successful fulfillment of their mandate.
