Anambra Police Reacts To Viral Social Media Report On Alleged Missing Persons

The Anambra State Police Command has intercepted a viral social media publication alleging that five individuals transiting through the state in search of accommodation had gone missing. The Command has responded swiftly, urging members of the public to provide useful information that could aid ongoing investigations.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Command has yet to receive any formal report of such an incident at any of its divisions or formations across the state. Nonetheless, the Command is calling on relatives or acquaintances of the alleged victims to report to the Police Headquarters in Awka for further clarification and assistance.

“The Anambra State Police Command joins the publisher in seeking useful information to enable security agencies take necessary action,” the statement read.

The Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc, MNIPS, PhD, emphasized that it continually reviews and updates its operational strategies to improve safety, enhance community involvement, and uphold the rule of law.

The Police also noted that recent feedback from residents of Anambra State indicates growing public frustration over criminal activities, particularly those that disrupt economic and social life on Mondays. In response, citizens have shown increasing willingness to partner with security agencies to rid the state of criminal elements.

Residents are encouraged to promptly report any security-related incidents to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency line at 07039194332. The public can also access help via the ‘NPF Rescue Me App,’ available for free on Android and iOS platforms.

The Police Command reassured Ndi Anambra of its continued commitment to safeguarding lives and property while urging responsible use of social media to avoid inciting panic or misinformation.
