The Anambra State Police Command has launched an investigation into a trending video involving the alleged swapping of an ATM card belonging to a 58-year-old disabled woman by an unidentified female suspect at a commercial bank in Nnewi. The incident reportedly resulted in the unauthorized withdrawal of a total of ₦2 million from the victim’s account.

According to preliminary findings, the suspect, under the guise of offering assistance to the victim, swapped her ATM card. Shortly after leaving the ATM location, the victim began receiving multiple debit alerts amounting to ₦2 million.

Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has expressed deep concern over the incident and directed the Police Public Relations Officer to engage with the victim for further information to aid the investigation. The CP also instructed that all available intelligence resources be deployed to identify the suspect and dismantle any associated criminal networks.

The police are appealing to residents of Nnewi and its environs, as well as the general public, to assist in identifying the suspect as captured in the trending video. Anyone with useful information is encouraged to come forward to ensure the suspect is apprehended and brought to justice.
