The Anambra State Police Command has arrested two suspected cultists and armed robbers in separate operations, recovering arms, ammunition, and other incriminating items.
On March 22, 2025, operatives attached to the Obosi Division, acting on intelligence, arrested one Kosiso Okonkwo along the Obosi/Nkpor Road. A Beretta pistol was recovered from him, and during interrogation, he confessed to being a member of the Aye Confraternity.
In another operation, police operatives from B Division, in collaboration with officers from the 29 Squadron Mobile Police, intercepted a tricycle along the Enugu/Onitsha Expressway in Amansea around 9:20 PM. The tricycle, with registration numberqq *BBG 767 QH, was driven by one Augustine Okafor, who was dressed in army camouflage trousers.
Upon questioning, Okafor failed to provide satisfactory answers, prompting a search that led to the recovery of a Beretta pistol, seven live rounds of ammunition, ₦15,600 in cash, substances suspected to be hard drugs, and charms.
Following the arrests, Commissioner of Police CP Ikioye Orutugu ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the Command’s Tactical Unit for a thorough investigation. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intensifying efforts to combat crime and ensure public safety in the state.
