Anambra Police Intercept Gun Runner, Recover 375 Live Cartridges


The Anambra State Police Command has recorded a significant breakthrough in its ongoing efforts to combat crime, with the arrest of a suspected gun runner and the recovery of 375 live cartridges.

On June 15, 2024, at approximately 1:30 pm, police operatives from the Fegge division, while patrolling Niger Street in Onitsha, apprehended Felix Owaya, a 48-year-old resident of Ika South LGA, Delta State. Upon arrest, the operatives discovered 375 live cartridges in his possession.

During interrogation, Owaya confessed that he had been sent by an individual named Charles Ogboma to collect the ammunition from an unidentified source. The investigation is still ongoing as the police work to uncover the full extent of the illegal operation.

Commissioner of Police Nnaghe Obono Itam praised the officers involved in the arrest for their vigilance and dedication. He urged all personnel within the command to maintain their commitment to crime prevention and detection, ensuring the safety and security of the state’s residents.
