The Anambra State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a secure and peaceful environment during the festive season. Police officers have been actively ensuring the free flow of traffic and conducting anti-crime patrols at the First Niger Bridge in Onitsha.
The proactive measures, which form part of the Command’s broader strategy to ensure public safety, are being carried out in collaboration with other security stakeholders. The initiative aims to address traffic congestion and enhance security around the busy bridge, which serves as a major transit point during the holiday season.
SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Command, stated that monitoring and enforcement efforts would continue to ensure the safety and convenience of road users.
“The Anambra State Police Command remains dedicated to fostering a secure and peaceful environment in collaboration with other security stakeholders,” Ikenga said in a statement issued on December 23, 2024.
The efforts by the police have been commended by commuters and residents, who expressed relief at the reduced traffic bottlenecks and heightened security presence. The Command has urged the public to remain law-abiding and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
The ongoing patrols and traffic management operations underscore the commitment of the Anambra State Police Command to ensuring a smooth and crime-free festive period for residents and visitors alike.
