Anambra Police Command Intervenes In Dispute Between Correspondents Chapel, NUJ State Council

The Anambra State Police Command has stepped in to mediate the ongoing disagreement between the Anambra State Correspondents Chapel and the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council. The intervention, which took place on Monday, 19th May 2025, is aimed at resolving the internal differences and ensuring a peaceful transition of leadership within the union.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD, led the peace initiative as part of efforts to foster unity and stability among journalists in the state.

CP Orutugu appealed for calm and urged all parties involved, including some interested individuals, to cooperate in the interest of professionalism and progress. He emphasized the need for journalists to focus on their duties without the distraction of internal conflicts, assuring that the Command would continue to support peaceful dialogue.

The meeting, which is part of an ongoing deliberative process, is expected to provide a lasting solution that will strengthen the union and promote a more cohesive media environment in Anambra State.
