The Anambra State Police Command has continued its advocacy against the illegal sit-at-home order, taking to the streets to educate residents on its negative impact and the need for a return to normalcy.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, led the sensitization campaign across major parts of the state, emphasizing that Anambra’s economy thrives on trade and commerce. He urged residents to disregard the sit-at-home directive and go about their lawful businesses without fear, assuring them of adequate security.
“The state mainly survives on buying and selling. We encourage Ndi Anambra and residents to continue their normal activities. The police and other security agencies have taken over the streets, especially on Mondays, to ensure safety,” CP Orutugu stated.
The police command further reassured the public that stringent measures have been put in place to maintain law and order. Residents were encouraged to reject any form of intimidation and respond firmly to those enforcing the illegal order.
“Anybody that says you should sit at home on Monday, your reply to the person should be: ‘Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo,'” the police advised.
The Anambra State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, urging citizens to cooperate with security agencies to restore full economic and social activities in the state.
