The Anambra State Police Command has launched an investigation into disturbing videos and voice notes circulating on social media, threatening violence in the state. The Command, committed to maintaining law and order, has assured the public, particularly the people of Anambra, that it will take all necessary steps to prevent any infringement on citizens’ fundamental rights.
In a statement issued by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer, the Command emphasized that it is not taking the threats lightly. It reiterated its responsibility to ensure public safety, vowing to act decisively against any individual or group attempting to disrupt the peace and security in the state. The police have, in the past, arrested individuals involved in similar attempts to spread panic through social media.
As part of the intensified security measures, the Police and other security forces have ramped up patrols, surveillance, and security dominance across the state. These efforts are aimed at enforcing the law and maintaining public order and safety.
