Anambra Police Arrest Two Suspects For Armed Robbery, Rape, Recover Weapons and Motorcycle

In a significant breakthrough, police operatives from the Abagana division arrested two suspects in connection with cases of armed robbery and rape. The operation, carried out in the early hours of June 15, 2024, led to the recovery of two locally made double-barrel guns, one single-barrel gun, six live cartridges, and a Q-link motorcycle.

The suspects, identified as Chukwuma Diji, also known as Sympathy or Chi-boy, aged 35, and Michael Edochie, also known as Mikel, aged 31, both hail from the Umudun area of Abagana. Last year, they allegedly raped a married woman in Obinagu Abagana and evaded arrest by fleeing the community.

On June 6, 2024, the suspects reportedly broke into an apartment, raping a young lady and her friend at gunpoint. They forced one of the victims to transfer money to their account after the assault. Both Chukwuma and Michael have confessed to the crimes.

Anambra State Police Commissioner, CP Nnaghe Itam, has directed the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough investigation to ensure justice for the victims.

The suspects will be arraigned in court upon the completion of the investigation.
