The Commissioners of Police in Anambra and Enugu States have pledged to enhance interstate collaboration in tackling security threats along their shared borders through intelligence sharing and joint operations.
The meeting, held on March 24, 2025, at the Anambra State Command Headquarters, was attended by CP Ikioye Orutugu of Anambra State and CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa of Enugu State, alongside their deputies and other senior officers.
The security chiefs identified the infiltration of criminals between the two states as a major challenge requiring urgent intervention. In response, they committed to strengthening intelligence sharing, pooling operational resources, and conducting joint security operations to curb violent crimes and other subversive activities.
Reaffirming their determination to rid both states of criminal elements, the Commissioners warned perpetrators to desist or face the full force of the law.
The meeting aligns with the Inspector-General of Police’s enhanced policing guidelines, emphasizing cooperation among commands to bolster public safety.
