The Anambra Elders Forum (A.E.F) has called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to fulfill his electoral promises by conducting Local Government elections in Anambra State. The forum emphasized that this is a fundamental requirement of democracy.

In a statement released in Awka and signed by Chief Uzoma Anunihu, Chief Media Officer of the Anambra Elders’ Forum, the group reminded Governor Soludo that holding Local Government elections was a key promise made during his campaign two years ago. The forum urged the governor to take this opportunity to establish and constitute the State Electoral Commission by appointing a chairman and its members.

The A.E.F stressed that the new Commission would expedite the conduct of Local Government elections within the tenure of the current Caretaker Committees, and highlighted that there is no need to renew the tenure of these committees.

“The Local Government election, if conducted, will deepen democracy, enhance economic activities and development, engage the youth, bring internal and grassroots democracy, and boost the economy of the Local Governments,” the statement read.

The forum also noted that by conducting the election before the end of his first term, Governor Soludo would solidify his reputation as a true democrat and advance his Taiwan-Dubai agenda for the state.

The Anambra Elders Forum concluded by stating, “It will also prove that the Governor is a true democrat. It will add to his Taiwan-Dubai populous program.”
