The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has appealed for calm following a disturbing incident that led to the alleged murder of a young woman in Nnewi.
The incident, which occurred on the evening of Monday, April 15, 2025, at Ibeto Junction, involved a trigger-happy security operative who allegedly shot a lady identified as Chiamaka Okeke, resulting in her tragic death.
In an official statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, on Tuesday, April 16, CP Orutugu confirmed that the Command is already in contact with the relevant security outfit involved in the case. He assured the public that efforts are ongoing to identify the suspect and ensure that justice is served.
The Commissioner urged residents of Nnewi and Anambra State at large to remain calm as investigations continue. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to transparency and justice, promising to provide updates as developments unfold.
The Anambra State Police Command expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and reiterated its stance against any form of abuse or misconduct by security personnel.
