Anambra CP Orders Permanent Phone Lines For Area Commanders, DPOs To Boost Security

In a bid to strengthen public safety and enhance operational efficiency, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc MNIPS PhD, has directed the immediate acquisition of permanent phone numbers for all Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) within the state.

The announcement came during a closed-door meeting with Area Commanders on Friday, following an assessment of security briefs. According to CP Orutugu, the move aims to foster better communication between the police and the public, improve coordination among various units of the Command, and ensure quicker response to incidents across the state.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Command explained that assigning permanent phone numbers will provide a reliable channel for residents to report incidents and seek assistance, thereby streamlining the flow of information. This dedicated communication system is expected to strengthen collaboration between Area Commands and DPOs, allowing for the more strategic deployment of resources where they are needed most. Ultimately, this will lead to faster and more efficient responses to emergencies, helping to build greater trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve.

Reiterating his commitment to maintaining peace and security in Anambra, CP Orutugu emphasized that this initiative forms part of broader efforts to modernize and improve policing in the state. He encouraged community members to utilize the forthcoming permanent phone numbers and remain vigilant in reporting suspicious activities. By embracing this proactive approach, the Command underlines its dedication to community-oriented policing and the importance of strong partnerships between law enforcement agencies and the public.
