Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, led a security patrol across the state on March 31, 2025, reinforcing law and order while addressing critical security concerns.
As part of the patrol, CP Orutugu visited the scene of a fire incident at Ifejirika by Nwangene, Onitsha, to assess the situation and ensure compliance with the security measures put in place. The commissioner expressed regret over the incident and proposed a meeting with marketers, warehouse owners, and stakeholders to implement preventive measures against similar occurrences in the future.
During his rounds, CP Orutugu stopped at Fegge Divisional Police Headquarters, where he conducted an interview with suspects and ordered the immediate release of two individuals allegedly detained over a minor offense.
In a show of solidarity, the Onitsha Bus Drivers Association pledged their support for improved security in the city, committing to the complete restoration of economic activities in Onitsha. The association expressed readiness to collaborate with the police to enhance safety and stability in the area.
Additionally, the commissioner paid a courtesy visit to the head of the Northern Community in Anambra State, emphasizing the importance of unity and inclusivity among residents of diverse backgrounds. He reiterated that peace and stability are crucial for the state’s overall development and security.
Other areas covered during the patrol included the Main Market Divisional Headquarters, Building Materials Market, Onitsha Head Bridge, and other strategic locations.
The Anambra State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to community policing and building public trust to strengthen security efforts across the state.
