    Akpabio, Abbas, Nweke To Present Omoniyi Ibietan’s Book on Cyber Politics To Public

    Dignitaries, including the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio; the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas; and former Minister of Information and Communication, Frank Nweke Jr., are expected to attend the public presentation of a book authored by Omoniyi Ibietan.

    The book launch is scheduled for Tuesday, July 25, at the main auditorium of the Communications and Digital Economy Complex, Mbora District, Abuja.

    At the event, Mr. Akpabio will serve as the special guest of honour, while Mr. Abbas will attend as the guest of honour.

    Mr. Nweke, who was previously assisted by the book’s author during his ministerial term, will chair the ceremony.

    The book titled “Cyber Politics: Social Media, Social Demography, and Voting Behaviour in Nigeria,” published by Premium Times Books, explores the influence of social media communication on various electoral aspects, such as voting behaviour, demographic correlations, and the role of social media influencers.

    The event will be graced by several other prominent figures, including the former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo (Rtd); the Special Adviser to the President on Policy Coordination, Hadiza Bala Usman; the founder of Agora Policy Think Tank and former Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI), Waziri Adio; the Executive Director of the Centre for Democracy and Development, Idayat Hassan; the Chief Executive Officer of Premium Times Group, Dapo Olorunyomi; the Deputy Dean of the School of Postgraduate School, Baze University, Prof Abiodun Adeniyi; and the Executive Director of CARE International, Dr Hussaini Abdu.

    During the event, the book will be presented to the public by Umar Danbatta, the executive vice chairman and CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission, where the author currently works.

    The book will be reviewed by Azubuike Ishiekwene, a renowned journalist, writer, and editor-in-chief of Leadership Newspaper.

    It spans 460 pages across 12 chapters and has been available in both hardback and softback versions in bookstores nationwide since June 12, 2023. Electronic copies of the book can also be purchased online through platforms like Amazon.

    The occasion will not only feature the book presentation and review but also include a panel discussion on the intersection of politics and social technology. The panelists will analyze the impact of these factors on the previous two general elections in Nigeria and explore the potential implications of cyber politics on future elections.
