The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 2 Command, overseeing Lagos and Ogun States, AIG Adegoke M. Fayoade, mni, psc, fisn, convened a high-level security meeting on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, with Commissioners of Police and key Tactical and Strategic Commanders within the Zone.
The meeting, held at the Zone 2 Command Headquarters in Onikan, Lagos, focused on enhancing security measures across the Zone for the year 2025. AIG Fayoade underscored the importance of proactive policing, community engagement, and improved public relations as crucial tools for intelligence gathering and effective crime prevention.
Among the attendees were the Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, CP Olanrewaju Ishola, psc+, mnips, and the Commissioner of Police for Ogun State, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, PhD, alongside Area, Squadron, and Tactical Commanders from both states.
During the session, the AIG emphasized the necessity of both physical and covert policing strategies to combat criminal activities effectively. He urged the commanders to identify high-risk areas or “black spots” and strengthen security presence in these zones. Collaboration with sister agencies and fostering partnerships with community members were also highlighted as integral to crime-fighting efforts.
This meeting signals a reinforced commitment by the Zone 2 Command to prioritize safety and public trust while adopting innovative strategies to address evolving security challenges in Lagos and Ogun States.
The Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Ayuba T. Umma, anipr, affirmed that the Command remains dedicated to maintaining peace and security across its jurisdiction.
