AIG Margaret Ochalla Agebe Assumes Office As 54th Head of FCID Annex, Lagos


AIG Margaret Ochalla Agebe has officially assumed duty as the 54th Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Lagos. Her appointment follows the retirement of AIG Augustina N. Ogbodo (rtd), marking a new era in the leadership of the department.

A native of Yala Local Government Area in Cross River State, AIG Agebe holds degrees in Sociology, Conflict Resolution and Refugee Management, as well as a Master’s in Peace and Conflict Studies. Her extensive experience in law enforcement includes serving as Personal Assistant to four Commissioners of Police in Anambra, Officer In-Charge of the Monitoring Unit in Anambra, and Team Leader of the IGP Monitoring Unit. She also held key positions such as Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) at the Force Gender Unit, Advisor to the Inspector General on Gender Issues, Commissioner of Police at the Anti-Fraud Unit in FCID Abuja, and Commissioner of Police at the Special Fraud Unit, Lagos.

AIG Agebe’s career has been marked by strategic initiatives and leadership in specialized units, particularly in fraud investigation and gender-based crime prevention. Her efforts have earned her several prestigious awards, including the Global Women Hall of Fame (2017), the Africa Women Leadership Award, and the National Security Award for Excellent Performance. She has also received international recognition, including the Kwame Nkrumah Leadership Award of Excellence and the International Security Service Award by ISO-SEC Switzerland and HSIIS United Kingdom.

In her new role, AIG Agebe has pledged to enhance the operational effectiveness of the FCID, strengthen public safety, and uphold the integrity of the Nigeria Police Force. She has called on citizens to support law enforcement efforts in combating crime, promoting justice, and maintaining national security.
