AIG Augustina N. Ogbodo, PSC, has officially assumed office as the 53rd Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Lagos, marking a historic milestone as the first female officer to hold this position.
AIG Ogbodo succeeds AIG Ogundele J. Ayodeji, under whose leadership the FCID Annex Lagos recorded significant achievements. Known for her distinguished career and commitment to ethical policing, AIG Ogbodo’s appointment reinforces the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to professionalism and inclusivity.
A native of Enugu South Local Government Area in Enugu State, AIG Ogbodo previously served as Commissioner of Police in Ebonyi State, where she earned accolades for her exceptional leadership. She also headed the Maritime Police Command at the Force Headquarters Annex, Obalende, where she upheld high ethical standards, particularly in combating corruption, harassment, and misconduct within the maritime sector.
AIG Ogbodo holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and a Diploma in Police Science from the Staff College, Jos. Throughout her career, she has attended numerous professional development programs and served in various police commands across Nigeria.
In her inaugural address, AIG Ogbodo emphasized the importance of collaboration between the police and the public in combating crime and promoting justice. She pledged to strengthen operational effectiveness at the FCID, enhance public safety, and maintain the integrity of the Police Force.
“My vision is to create a secure environment for all Nigerians by upholding professionalism, integrity, and transparency in policing,” she stated.
AIG Ogbodo also highlighted her open-door policy and her commitment to fostering synergy with sister agencies, underlining her focus on operational efficiency and public security.
With her extensive experience and dedication to law enforcement, AIG Ogbodo is poised to lead the FCID Annex Lagos towards achieving the goals of the Inspector General of Police in enhancing national security and operational capacity.
