In a chilling discovery, the newly launched Agụnechemba security outfit has unearthed over 30 graves and a shrine at a popular hotel in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State. The shocking find has sent waves of fear and outrage through the community, recalling the infamous Otokoto ritual killings of 1996 in Imo State.

The hotel, whose name is being withheld, is reportedly one of the most frequented in the area, with a Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) registration number of 201966. Viral videos from the scene revealed multiple exhibits, including well-partitioned graves located on the top floor of the facility.

This discovery echoes the gruesome Otokoto incident, where an 11-year-old boy, Anthony Ikechukwu Okoronkwo, was murdered in Owerri, Imo State. The crime led to nationwide protests, the arrest of the hotelier, Vincent Duru, and members of the Black Scorpion gang, culminating in their convictions and death sentences.

In response to the recent Anambra case, the state government acted swiftly by demolishing the hotel in accordance with the Anambra Homeland Security Law. This decisive action aims to deter future crimes of this nature and reassure the public of the government’s commitment to security and justice.

While the police have yet to issue an official statement, investigations are reportedly underway to uncover the full extent of the crimes committed. The community is on high alert, demanding accountability and justice for the victims.

The discovery has reignited concerns about the prevalence of ritual killings and corruption in the region, with calls for stricter enforcement of laws to prevent such atrocities.

As the case unfolds, the public awaits updates from law enforcement agencies and further actions to address the menace of ritual practices in the state.
