The community of Achalagu Nteje has been plunged into turmoil following allegations of illegal land sales and forgery involving the chairman of the Achalagu minor ward, Mr. Igwebuike Nwoye. Concerns have been raised by Achalagu indigenes, both at home and abroad, over the sale of 300 plots of land valued at millions of naira, allegedly conducted without proper legal procedures.

Achalagu, known for its cultural heritage and strong communal bonds, is now embroiled in a dispute that threatens its stability. Allegations suggest that Mr. Igwebuike bypassed essential administrative protocols, including excluding other executives and community members from the decision-making process. Reports indicate that the chairman acted unilaterally with his secretary, ignoring the required consent from key stakeholders, including members of the Achalagu diaspora.

The situation escalated when it was revealed that the signature of an elder statesman was forged to facilitate the sale. The elderly man was allegedly misled into believing that his signature was for securing a loan, but it was instead used to endorse the illegal transaction. This act of forgery has caused outrage within the community, as it undermines the trust and integrity of Achalagu’s leadership.

Achalagu’s people are deeply concerned about the implications of this alleged land sale, as the land in question plays a vital role in the village’s social and economic well-being. Community members have raised fears over the long-term effects on Achalagu’s land ownership and are calling for a thorough investigation into the matter.

In response to the allegations, Achalagu indigenes in the diaspora have launched an independent investigation to uncover the truth and hold those responsible accountable. There have also been reports of suspicious activity surrounding the community’s bank account, where signatories responsible for receiving alerts were allegedly removed by Mr. Igwebuike and his secretary.

Meanwhile, the President General of Nteje, Dr. Nnamdi Ilodiuba, has distanced himself from the controversy, asserting that he had no involvement in the sale of Achalagu land. He stated that no agreement or discussion regarding such a sale had taken place with Mr. Igwebuike.

There are also reports that Mr. Igwebuike claimed support from High Chief Agunaechemba (Atiku Abubarka) for the land transaction. This claim is currently under investigation as the community seeks clarification on the nature of this alleged backing.

As the investigation continues, Achalagu’s people are calling for transparency, justice, and the restoration of trust in their land governance system. Many hope that the new Nteje Development Union (NDU) constitution will provide clearer guidelines to prevent future disputes and ensure that community land is protected from illegal sales.

The Achalagu community has made it clear that there is no land available for sale and that any transactions related to such land should be considered illegal. Achalagu indigenes, both at home and abroad, remain united in their efforts to resolve the issue through legal channels, with the goal of safeguarding the future of their land and maintaining peace within the community.
