Access Holdings Donates ₦1 Billion To Support Flood Relief Efforts In Maiduguri

In a major demonstration of its commitment to community support, Access Holdings Plc, a leading African financial group, has announced a donation of over ₦1 billion to aid relief and recovery efforts in Maiduguri following recent devastating floods.

The donation, channeled through its banking arm, Access Bank Plc, was disclosed during a visit by the Group’s delegation to the Borno State Government House, led by Bolaji Agbede, Acting Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings. The financial support is targeted at providing immediate assistance and helping rebuild essential infrastructure damaged by the floods.

Access Holdings’ contribution includes ₦500 million in cash to bolster the state government’s on-the-ground response, ₦500 million for the restoration of critical infrastructure such as hospitals and essential services, and food supplies to ensure vulnerable communities receive necessary care.

Speaking during the visit, Bolaji Agbede reaffirmed the company’s dedication to supporting the people of Borno. “At Access Holdings, we believe in positively impacting the communities we serve, not only as a financial institution but as a family that cares deeply for its people. This donation is not just about the funding; it’s about offering immediate relief to affected families and contributing to long-term resilience through infrastructure restoration,” Agbede said.

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State expressed gratitude for the donation, praising Access Holdings for its swift and generous response to the crisis. “This donation of ₦1 billion is appreciated during this challenging time and will be judiciously utilized to impact the lives of those affected. The restoration of our hospitals and essential services will strengthen our resilience, while the food relief will provide immediate comfort to families in distress,” Zulum stated.

The floods, which have submerged entire residential areas and displaced tens of thousands of people, have affected over one million residents. Access Holdings is the first mainstream financial institution to step forward with significant support for Borno. The company is committed to collaborating with the Borno State Government, aid organizations, and other stakeholders to ensure relief reaches those most in need and the state is positioned for recovery.
