The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a suspected thief and recovered a motorcycle and generator allegedly stolen in Itori following a swift response to information provided by a vigilant motorist.
The incident occurred at about 7.30 a.m. on Sunday, October 25, 2026, when the motorist spotted an unregistered tricycle conveying a grey Haojue Lady motorcycle and a Firman generator, with two occupants on board along the Onigbedu to Itori Road. Suspecting that the items might have been stolen, he alerted the police while trailing the tricycle to Complex Junction, Itori, towards Papalanto.
Acting on the information, operatives of the Ewekoro Police Division intercepted the tricycle. The occupants reportedly attempted to escape, but the officers apprehended one of them, identified as Adam Muhammed, after a chase. Police said efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing accomplice.
Preliminary investigations reportedly linked the recovered motorcycle and generator to a theft earlier reported in Itori. The suspect remains in police custody as detectives investigate the incident and work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged crime.
The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their prompt response and praised the motorist for providing timely information. He stressed that public cooperation and effective police action were essential to preventing crime and protecting lives and property.
Ojajuni urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements and activities to security agencies. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to proactive policing, adding that timely information from members of the public could make the difference between a successful crime and its prevention.
