The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has activated an immediate search and rescue operation following an aircraft accident involving an ATR 42 aircraft in the Igbokoda area of Ondo State.
The accident occurred on Monday, October 5, 2026, while the aircraft was on a routine mission from Benin to Lagos. The circumstances surrounding the incident were not immediately disclosed by the NAF.
The NAF said its search and rescue teams had been deployed in coordination with relevant authorities and emergency response agencies to locate and assist those affected by the accident.
The Force said it remained committed to supporting the ongoing rescue operation and ensuring that all necessary resources were deployed to facilitate the search and rescue efforts.
In a statement issued by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Headquarters NAF, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the Force said further details on the incident would be communicated as soon as they become available.
