The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 11 suspects and recovered two suspected stolen vehicles, three firearms and 25 Automated Teller Machine cards in a series of operations conducted across the state between September 16 and 26, 2026.
The operations, carried out under the supervision of the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, also led to the recovery of mobile phones and assorted electrical materials, while eight vehicles were impounded for allegedly obstructing traffic around the Sagamu Interchange Bridge.
At Owode Egba, police detectives recovered a stolen commercial TVS motorcycle at Mokoloki Village on September 17, following a complaint received the previous day. Two suspects, Rasheed Abdul and Saula Meshinoye, were arrested, while another suspect, identified as Saheed, reportedly fled.
The Command said investigation into the motorcycle theft was ongoing, with detectives intensifying efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspect and establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
At Olorunda Division, two suspects, Mutiu Gafar, 19, and Fatai Obasanmi, 37, were arrested on September 19 after three persons were intercepted along Ayetoro Road while allegedly conveying stolen electrical materials on a motorcycle.
Recovered from the suspects were bundles of electrical wiring, a changeover electrical box and a circuit breaker box, which police said were allegedly stolen from a residence in the area. A third suspect, identified as Tosin, escaped.
Similarly, operatives of the Special Weapons and Tactics Team, SWAT, Base 7, Abule Iroko, arrested Olamide Ayandele, 30, Tope Samuel, 40, and Ayo Peter Ojo, 30, on September 21 over alleged vehicle theft.
The suspects were arrested around Dalemo, Ota, after police intercepted an unregistered tricycle and an unregistered TVS motorcycle. Preliminary investigation, according to the Command, linked them to alleged vehicle theft around the Ijoko axis, with efforts ongoing to identify other persons connected to the case.
In another operation, detectives at Igbesa Division arrested Ameachine Anthony, 45, over an alleged N2.5 million fraud and recovered 25 ATM cards and several mobile phones. Police said preliminary investigation suggested that the cards were allegedly obtained through a scheme involving utility bills, newly acquired SIM cards and bank accounts operated through associates.
The suspect and recovered exhibits were subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.
On the same day, SWAT operatives arrested Peter Olanrewaju, 34, following intelligence on an alleged cult related gathering. Further investigation led to the arrest of Adebayo Sodiq, 36, while one pump action rifle and two locally made pistols were recovered.
Meanwhile, detectives attached to the Ijebu Ode Area Crime Office recovered a Safira vehicle reportedly taken from its owner and arrested Olatunji Olalekan following intelligence gathering, discreet investigation and tracking. The vehicle has been secured as an exhibit as investigation continues.
The Command also said eight vehicles were impounded on September 26 during a no parking enforcement operation conducted by the Sagamu Area Command and adjoining divisions around the Sagamu Interchange Bridge. The police said the vehicles were found obstructing the highway and would be processed for prosecution on September 28.
CP Ojajuni commended the officers for their vigilance and professionalism, while urging residents to remain alert and provide credible information to the police.
