The maritime focused online newspaper said the event would hold at Rockview Hotels, Apapa, and attract major stakeholders from the maritime, ports, shipping, freight forwarding, logistics and wider blue economy sectors.

Omatseye, who served as NIMASA Director General from 2006 to 2010, is expected to bring his extensive experience in maritime administration and policy to the high level industry gathering.

The 2026 edition is themed, “Smarter Gateways, Greener Logistics: Leveraging the Port Community System and National Single Window for Zero Emission Trade.”

The theme is expected to drive discussions on Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda, port efficiency, trade facilitation and the adoption of environmentally sustainable practices across the maritime and logistics value chain.

The organisers said the lecture would provide a platform for policymakers, regulators, operators, experts and other stakeholders to examine practical measures for improving port operations through digital technology and integrated systems.

The discussions are also expected to focus on how the Port Community System and National Single Window can enhance coordination among stakeholders, reduce bottlenecks and support more efficient movement of cargo.

The event will also feature the presentation of awards to individuals, organisations and institutions recognised for outstanding contributions to Nigeria’s maritime sector.

Managing Director and Editor in Chief of Primetime Reporters, Mr Saint Augustine Nwadinamuo, said the awards were designed to recognise excellence in leadership, professionalism, innovation, advocacy, research and trade facilitation.

Nwadinamuo said the selection process was based on merit, adding that the awards would celebrate stakeholders whose contributions have strengthened the development and growth of Nigeria’s maritime industry.

He said Omatseye’s appointment as chairman reflected the former NIMASA director general’s wealth of experience and contributions to maritime administration, safety, security and the development of Nigeria’s maritime resources.

According to him, Omatseye’s participation would add significant value to the lecture and provide stakeholders with an opportunity to draw from his experience in shaping policies and initiatives within the maritime sector.

Nwadinamuo said the fifth edition would also examine emerging opportunities and challenges in digitalisation, port efficiency, environmental sustainability and the development of Nigeria’s blue economy.

He said the gathering was expected to attract senior government officials, heads of regulatory agencies, shipping companies, terminal operators, freight forwarders, logistics providers, maritime lawyers, academics, journalists and other professionals.

Nwadinamuo, who is also Chief Executive Officer of Chisann Communications, publishers of Primetime Reporters, said the organisation remained committed to promoting informed maritime discourse and recognising excellence through the annual event. He invited government agencies, professional associations, corporate organisations and other stakeholders to support the programme through sponsorship, advertising and other partnership opportunities.
