The Airport Police Command has arrested a 17 year old boy, Benjamin Daniel, over the alleged sexual assault of a 14 year old girl in the Sabo Masalashi area of Bassa, Abuja.
The incident, according to the Command, occurred on August 15, 2026, and was reported by the victim’s mother at the Abuja Airport Police Division.
Police said the suspect, who resides in Angua Mandala, allegedly lured the girl into his room under the guise of purchasing soya bean cake she was selling.
The suspect allegedly assaulted the teenager after she entered the room, prompting her mother to report the matter to the police.
Following the complaint, the Divisional Police Officer of the Abuja Airport Police Division reportedly advised the victim’s parents and facilitated her immediate medical attention.
The DPO also mobilised police personnel to locate the suspect, who was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.
The Command said the suspect’s statement was obtained in the presence of his mother, in line with procedures governing the handling of juvenile suspects.
Police authorities added that measures had been put in place to protect the welfare and wellbeing of the victim as investigation into the alleged offence continues.
The suspect is expected to be brought before a juvenile court of competent jurisdiction after the conclusion of the investigation, the Command said.
The Commissioner of Police, Airport Police Command, CP Olufunke Ogunbode, condemned the alleged assault and reaffirmed the Command’s zero tolerance for rape, sexual assault and other forms of sexual violence, directing officers to ensure that the case is thoroughly investigated and justice pursued in accordance with the law.
