…CP Orders SCID Takeover as Viral Videos Spark Statewide Shock

The Delta State Police Command has moved swiftly to contain public outrage following disturbing videos allegedly depicting the sexual assault and molestation of young women in Oramudu Quarters, Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area.

The shocking footage, said to have emanated from a local event in the community, has triggered widespread condemnation and renewed concerns over public safety and the protection of vulnerable groups.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the Command described the acts captured in the videos as criminal, inhumane and a gross violation of the fundamental rights and dignity of the victims.

Reacting promptly, the Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, condemned the incident in strong terms and ordered an immediate, full-scale investigation into the allegations.

The police hierarchy has since escalated the matter, directing that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a more thorough and discreet probe.

As part of initial actions, the alleged chief organiser of the event, Chief Omorede Sunday, alongside five other suspects, including a community head, have been arrested and are currently in police custody.

The Command disclosed that both tactical and investigative units have been deployed across relevant locations with a clear mandate to identify, track and apprehend all other individuals linked to the incident.

It further called on victims and eyewitnesses to come forward with credible information that could aid the ongoing investigation, assuring that all disclosures would be handled with utmost confidentiality and professionalism.

While urging residents to remain calm and law-abiding, the Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives, protecting human rights and ensuring justice is served without fear or favour.

The Police Command reiterated its zero tolerance for sexual violence, vowing that all perpetrators involved in the reprehensible act would be diligently prosecuted in accordance with the law.
