Delta State Police Command has recorded major breakthroughs in its renewed crackdown on crime, arresting suspected armed robbers, cultists, and drug peddlers in separate sting operations across the state. The operations also led to the recovery of a loaded English pistol, live ammunition, and illicit drugs.
In one of the operations on 17th September 2025, the Divisional Police Officer of Ogwashi-Uku Division, CSP Israel Okomoyon, led a joint patrol team comprising police operatives and local vigilantes. The team intercepted three young men on a motorcycle within the community.
The suspects, identified as 25-year-old residents of Ogwashi-Uku — Emmanuel Ibekwe, Victor Chibuzor, and Zakaria Joro — were subjected to a search, which resulted in the recovery of an English pistol loaded with two rounds of live ammunition. The suspects, who could not give a satisfactory explanation for being in possession of the firearm, have since been transferred alongside the exhibits to the State Anti-Kidnapping Squad for further investigation.
Similarly, on 13th September 2025, operatives of the Eagle Net Special Squad, led by Commander SP Danyaya Yunusa, in collaboration with the Nigeria Hunters Forest Security Service (NHFSS), stormed a hotel along the Asaba–Benin Expressway in Agbor following credible intelligence.
The raid led to the arrest of ten adult suspects, including the hotel owner, Markwuye Peter of Ifeanchukwu Street, Agbor. A large quantity of illicit drugs was recovered from the premises. Police authorities confirmed that the suspects remain in custody, while discreet investigations are ongoing to uncover the full scope of their activities.
Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, commended the operatives for the successful operations, stressing that the Command remains committed to flushing out criminal elements in the state. He said the successes highlight the effectiveness of intelligence-driven policing and community collaboration in combating crime.
He further urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to provide credible information to security agencies, assuring them of swift response and sustained efforts to safeguard lives and property in Delta State.
